Shroud of Turin Unmasked! Hover your mouse over the image below to revile the man behind the shroud! I have been fascinated with the Shroud of Turin for many years. Most importantly I have been fascinated with the man and the myths behind the shroud. There are two common images floating around the internet of the shroud, and among the more popular is the one you see below which a negaitive of a photo taken of the shroud a while ago. As you can see there are some interesting details of a man burned into it. Some people believe this is the image of Jesus. To date this has been the best image available, but it resembles an old tin-type photograph where you see scratches and debris all over the place, and not much color. So I decided to super-impose the image a bit in Photoshop by first playing with the levels etc… and then I started to clean the image dust and scratches. As I began working on this project I noticed some new interesting findings that I have not read about before. The first of them is focused on the right eye (your left) appears to have been beaten. As I zoomed into the images the eye looked more like a scene from Rocky Bow boa. The second find was the right cheek below the eye (again your left) was smashed and probably broken. He also has blood coming out of the right corner of this mouth. It looks like his nose was probably broken as well. Needless to say who ever this man was he was tortured very brutally to the point death was probably welcomed. When I made my rendition I decided to patch these areas because I was more interested in who the man was and what he looked like. In all likelihood his beard was fairly dark or black, but I wasn’t able to achieve that without compromising the image. If you darken his beard it would place this man’s age around 35-40 years old. You can tell he spent a lot of time in the sun and also was probably a teacher, preacher, knight or king…definitely of noble decent. For as badly beaten and tortured as we was, people went to great lengths after he died to care for him. Contact Info: email Posted April 11, 2010
